Abstract

Gas turbine is a machine that utilizes heat to produce mechanical energy in the form of shaft rotation to produce power. The power from the shaft rotation can be used to drive loads such as generators and compressors. Gas turbine used in power plants are designed in line with generators to be able to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. During its operation, a gas turbine can experience changes in load to adjust the need of electical power of consumers which change from time to time. As a result of the change of load, the efficiency of the turbine gas itself will change responding to the change that happen. In results of the calculation, it is found that the highest efficiency is 23% when the generator load is 96 MW and the lowest efficiency is 11% when the generator load is 35 MW. This shows that the generator load and gas turbine efficiency are directly propotional.
